The critical moment faced by humanity requires a complete paradigm shift via a radical energy transition. According to the targets established in the COP26 report, to rescue the planet’s climate and guarantee its sustainable development, two strategic themes are the mobility sector and the generation of clean and renewable energy. The main goal of the National Institute on Green Tribology for the Energy Transition (CT Trib) is to create an integrated and multidisciplinary national network, a hub for knowledge and innovation, attracting new minds, researchers, investments from the productive sector, government support, national and international collaborations that use green tribology as a fundamental tool for contributing and mitigating the enormous challenges associated with the energy transition, such as a drastic reduction of pollutants, consumption of fossil fuels and global warming. CT-Trib should also play the role of linking Brazilian and international initiatives, in particular via its participation in international policy-proposing bodies such as the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Tribology Council (ITC), the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), among others.
Team
The National Institute on Green Tribology for the Energy Transition (CT-Trib) encompasses researchers from eight federal universities, spread in seven Brazilian states, working in the areas of tribology, energy transition, biofuels, mobility, materials science, chemistry, surface engineering and environment.
Mission
Our mission is to generate science, technology and innovation, to train human resources and to transfer knowledge in the area of green tribology and energy transition for the development of the industrial and public sector, and of Brazilian society as a whole.
